UDANA QUINTET | 17.6
MOZART, DVORAK, ZEMLINSKY AND OTHERS Célestine Wacquez | flute Tine Verhoeven | oboe Alba Mayorga Rodrigo | clarinet Rob Laethem | bassoon Jason Enuset | French horn Having inaugurated con brio our series of musical animations last summer, the Udana Quintet returns to the festival under a new name, but with the very same passion to share its music with the most diverse audiences. This wind ensemble (formerly the Bizart Quintet) is made up of five musician friends from different Belgian royal conservatoires. After playing together in various orchestral projects (including the renowned Youth Orchestra Flanders), they decided to pursue their shared passion for chamber music by forming a quintet. The vast repertoire for wind quintet provides them with a formidable playing field for developing a true group sound and original interpretations, full of zest and character, that bring out the best in each member. Thus, this talented young quintet breathes new life into a beloved 18th-century tradition – that of performing ‘classical’ music in public spaces. |
DUO EURYDICE | 18.6
BACH, PERGOLESI, MOZART, SCHUBERT AND BELLINI Doris Brasseur | soprano Camille Ledocq | cello These talented graduates of the IMEP in Namur, and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels saw their paths cross again in 2020 at the non-profit association Arts Émoi. Eager to perform together, they set out on a collaborative exploration of the musical and acoustic possibilities of their two instruments. With a focus on opera and melody, their repertoire since covers a wide range of musical styles and periods. Alongside their respective activities as musicologist and teacher, the duo are constantly seeking new artistic avenues, whether it be a show built around their mythological namesake or the present programme dedicated to the Bel Canto, from Bach to Bellini. Thanks to these resourceful young women, opera will resound both inside and outside the theatre this summer. |
QUÍRON QUARTET | 19.6
MOZART, HAYDN AND OTHERS Edgar Gomes | violon Ricardo Vieira | violon José Miguel Freitas | viola Maria Nabeiro | cello Inspired by their namesake, the mythological centaur of knowledge and art, the Quíron Quartet ardently seek the knowledge of their musical formation as well as the art of its public presentation. Founded in late 2020, the quartet have already performed in Portugal, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy and Poland, as well as at festivals including Casa del Quartetto and Crans-Montana Classics. In 2023, the quartet completed a postgraduate degree at the Royal Brussels Conservatoire under the supervision of Eric Robberecht and won the prize for the best interpretation of a contemporary work at the Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition. A member of the prestigious Nederlandse StrijkKwartet Academie since 2021, these exceptional musicians are also mentored by Chamber Music for Europe, a valued partner of our festival. |
